From our hands to your door

  1. Order placed. You get an order confirmation by email.
  2. Packed and dispatched. Within 2 to 3 business days we pack your order and hand it to India Post. You get an email with your tracking number.
  3. Leaving India. The parcel goes through Indian export customs and is flown out. This is the stage where tracking often goes quiet.
  4. Arriving in your country. Your country’s customs checks the parcel, then passes it to your local postal service.
  5. Delivered. Your local post delivers it, or leaves a card if someone needs to sign or pay import charges.

Reading your tracking

We send every order with an India Post tracking number (it looks like EE123456789IN). You can follow it on our Track your order page using your order number and email.

A few things are normal and nothing to worry about:

  • The first scan can take 2 to 5 days to appear after dispatch.
  • Tracking can show no change for a week or more while the parcel is in the air or waiting at customs.
  • Once the parcel reaches your country, updates may appear on your local postal service’s website instead, using the same number.

If there has been no update for 10 days after the expected delivery window, email us at support@ayurkai.com with your order number and we will open an inquiry with India Post.

Customs, duties and taxes

Your parcel is an international import, so it goes through customs in your country. We fill in the customs form honestly, with the real contents and the price you paid. We cannot mark orders as gifts or declare a lower value.

Many countries charge import tax (VAT or GST) and sometimes duty, and your local post may add a handling fee for collecting it. These charges are set by your country, not by us, and are not included in our prices. They are usually paid to the postal service on delivery or online before delivery.

United States: US import duty is added to your order at checkout and shown as its own line before you pay. We pay it to US customs through India Post when we send your parcel, so there is nothing more to pay when it arrives. If US duty rates change after you order, we cover the difference.

Notes for some countries

  • European Union: VAT applies to all imports, whatever the value. Your post office may also charge a small handling fee.
  • United Kingdom: VAT applies to imports. Royal Mail usually asks you to pay it, plus a handling fee, before delivery.
  • Australia and New Zealand: GST may apply. Australia and New Zealand also have rules for importing medicines for personal use.
  • Canada: GST/HST and possibly duty, collected by Canada Post on delivery.
  • Japan: please order from our Japanese store, ayurkai.jp, which ships to Japan with prices in yen.

Ayurvedic medicines and restricted items

Some products we sell are classed as Ayurvedic medicines in India. Other countries may treat them differently, especially eye drops, products containing bhasma (processed minerals), and anything taken by mouth. Many countries allow a small quantity for personal use only.

Before you order, please check your country’s rules for personal imports. We cannot guarantee that customs will release every product, and we cannot change how a product is described to get it through.

If customs holds or returns your parcel

If customs refuses your parcel or it is returned to us, we refund the product cost once it is back with us, minus the shipping cost. Import charges you choose not to pay, or parcels not collected from your post office, count as a return. Please collect parcels promptly: most post offices only hold them for 10 to 30 days.

Your address

Please check your address carefully at checkout, including flat or apartment number and postcode, and give a phone number. Your local post uses it if there is a problem with delivery. Once a parcel has left India, we cannot change the address.
